“While I can talk about how wonderful JLSA is for hours, I’ll give you the top reasons why I love JLSA: (1) my daughter has friends, she can tell me their names and that she wants to see them, (2) my daughter’s stress level has been dramatically reduced positively affecting not only her ability to learn and participate in class, but also her demeanor and behavior which have changed for the better, and (3) I have virtually lost my “job” of keeping up with school staff, IEP meetings & implementation, etc. which means my stress level has been reduced. So not only has my daughter’s school life improved, but JLSA has made a huge positive impact on our family life as well. “

"We chose Jordan Lake School of the Arts after a multi-year nationwide search for a program that would deliver more than a mainstream classroom was. The results have been all that we had hoped for and more. After only 6 weeks in the program pursuing a learning style that matches our child’s, Reading improved by a full grade level and later our child asked to learn multiplication as a first grader! In eliminating social anxieties, new friendships have blossomed. Our child comes home eager to share all that has been learned from the “awesome” hands on group projects and experiments in Science just as much as telling us about the play the class wrote and acted out together that day. The hikes at the lake and animal raise and release program have developed a new found appreciation for nature. Unlike many of the programs we considered, Jordan Lake School of the Arts and its teachers are all about the children, not the school. And of course it never hurts to hear the words, 'Mom, school was great today.'. "

"As parents we dreamed of finding a school for our daughter where her uniqueness would be valued. A place where her love of art and animals could be fostered. An enviornment that understands how important mentors can be and uses guided participation to help her navigate her day. We imagined finding a school that she would be excited to attend each day, that valued the arts, had warm and nurturing teachers and was a place where she would truly make friends.
